PRACTICE OUTSIDE MANAGED CARE: INFORMATIONAL GROUPS One of the issues that arose at the 2001 annual Coalition meeting was a request for support for those wanted to practice outside managed care. As a result of this request, the Practicing Outside Managed Care meetings were established. These meetings have been approximately every 3 months since that time. Practitioners come to share their experience in either attempting to practice more outside managed care, or hearing the success or struggles of others with this intent. The groups serves as support for all: those who have been successful in having less managed care in their practices and those that have needed to hear other's stories to gain strength to hold to this intention, despite fears of losing business. Practitioners have felt supported overall by the meetings. The meetings are publicized in the newsletter with a reminder postcard a few weeks before the next meeting. All are invited to attend, Coalition members and potential Coalition members. |
